If you are looking for new ways to earn money from your newsletter passively, you are in the right place.
As an SEO expert and content writer, I’ve tried various creator tools for SEO writing, audience monetization, course creation, and more.
In this article, I want to share my Sparkloop review after using the platform for a few months. I’ll be honest: Sparkloop has its pros and cons. You won’t earn much if your email list is small. However, I’d still encourage trying Sparkloop as it can become an additional income source that does not take up your time.
Here is a table of contents for your convenience:

What is Sparkloop?
Sparkloop is a newsletter growth platform that helps newsletter creators grow their subscriber base. Sparkloop makes it easy to create a referral program, track referrals, and distribute rewards. It is a white-label solution that can be integrated with many popular email marketing platforms.
Sparkloop integration with Convertkit
I learned about Sparkloop while looking for new ways to monetize my SEO newsletter on Convertkit. (I switched to Beehiiv in January 2024).
The Convertkit Creator Network helps content creators recommend each others’ newsletters for free. This way, I’ve grown my SEO newsletter from roughly 300 to 1,000 subscribers in a few months! It’s a big achievement since I don’t actively promote it.
Since I already had an email list with over 1k subscribers, I started exploring Sparkloop paid opportunities, which means automatically recommending other newsletters to my subscribers. You can also do it by registering on Sparkloop.
The registration process is simple for Convertkit users. There is also a guide on how to enable paid recommendations in the Creator Network.
So, all you have to do to start recommending paid newsletters is add your identification number to your Convertkit landing page or form. The identification number will be available for you after registering on Sparkloop.
I copied my identification number and added it to the landing page to enable recommendations. That’s it!
Before your subscribers see newsletter recommendations, you must choose what to recommend. Continue reading to learn about the Sparkloop Upscribe recommendation widget.
Sparkloop Upscribe
Upscribe is a newsletter recommendation widget you can add to your opt-in forms to recommend preferred newsletters. You can choose as many partner newsletters to recommend as you want. However, the Upscribe widget will only recommend 5 newsletters simultaneously, optimizing for maximum output.
The logic is simple:
- Choose partner newsletters that can potentially be interesting to your target audience.
- Customize the Upscribe pop-up form. You can add a header, subheader, a CTA, and a skip link.
- Save changes and integrate your email software provider if you have not done it yet.
Here is what my Upscribe pop-up form looks like with recommended newsletters.
Your subscribers will see these recommendations after joining your email list, and only if a subscriber comes from a geographically unrestricted country.
Based on my experience, most newsletter owners are willing to pay for subscribers from the USA, the UK, and Canada. Therefore, I recommend checking the requirements of every paid newsletter.
For example, I got hooked by the Marketing Letter that pays $4.69 per subscriber. It’s a high rate compared to other newsletters, paying $1–$2.
However, the requirements are challenging, with strict geographical, age, and engagement limitations. Even though I’ve sent many suitable subscribers based on age and country, I could not guarantee their high engagement. Therefore, most subscribers were eventually rejected.
I have 12 active newsletter promotion campaigns I regularly review to decide whether it’s worth promoting them.
You won’t know what works for you unless you try various paid newsletter recommendations and see how your audience reacts. It’s a trial-and-error experience.
Sparkloop Magic links
There is one more effective way to gain new referrals apart from Sparkloop Upscribe.
I regularly use Sparkloop Magic links while promoting paid newsletters in my weekly newsletter.
A magic link allows anyone to subscribe in just one click! It’s very convenient and fast. There is no need to send your subscribers to the newsletter landing pages and then wonder whether they subscribed. Instead, you can include a magic link in your newsletter and let your followers subscribe in 1 click.
As a part of this Sparkloop review, I am sharing how I promote paid recommendations via my weekly SEO newsletter. I regularly update recommendations to ensure the most suitable and helpful information is shared.
Based on my experience, magic links work like magic!
If you write an enticing description, people will click. In my case, I have roughly a 4% click rate, so that’s equal to approximately 150+ clicks, considering that my email list has around 1,100+ subscribers as of September 2023.
Having my rough estimate, you can now calculate how many people can click on your paid recommendations.

How much you can earn with Sparkloop
Your earnings depend on (1) the size of your email list and (2) how many new subscribers you get per day.
The more people see your paid recommendations and subscribe, the more you earn.
In my case, I get roughly 10 new subscribers per day who see my paid recommendations. Besides, I regularly promote paid recommendations via my newsletter. Approximately 500 people see my recommendations weekly, whereas 100-200 click on different links in my newsletter. This data is valid for September 2023.
I joined Sparkloop at the end of July 2023. Here is how much I’ve earned in roughly 2 months:
- July 2023 — 12 confirmed referrals
- August — 11 confirmed referrals and 6 pending referrals
- September — 23 pending referrals
Louis Corneloup, the owner of the ML/AI powered newsletter techpresso, claims to have 5,837 subscribers. Here is how much he earned on Sparkloop in the first month.
Wondering how much you can make? Join Sparkloop and start making passive income with your newsletter.
Sparkloop pricing
Sparkloop is free if you want to integrate your newsletter and promote paid recommendations.
However, let’s not forget it’s a newsletter growth platform! Therefore, it can also help you grow your newsletter.
If your budget allows, you can pay $1–$2 per acquired subscriber. I highly recommend testing this option with a small budget before scaling it up since the quality of subscribers is unknown.
Alternatively, you can try Sparkloop’s Solo Creator for $99/m or Media Brand for $299 plans offering various newsletter growth features, such as a referral program. P.S. Beehiiv also offers a referral program and a Boosts feature for $99/m.

Sparkloop and Beehiiv Boosts are both paid newsletter recommendation platforms that allow newsletter publishers to promote their newsletters to the audiences of other newsletter publishers. They work by allowing publishers to bid on recommendations and then paying the publishers whose audiences subscribe to their newsletters.
Overall, Sparkloop is the better platform if you are looking for a more powerful and feature-rich solution. However, Beehiiv Boosts is a good option if you are on a budget or if you are just getting started with paid newsletter recommendations.
