As an SEO writer and content creator, I always look for tools that can make my work more effective and simple.

I’ve tried a few stock footage websites in my time. Let’s be honest, most of them cost an arm and a leg, and the free ones usually leave much to be desired.

When I discovered Videvo and took the plunge, I felt a renewed passion (and gratitude) for sites providing royalty-free video content for creators like myself.

In this honest Videvo review, I’ll dish out the details of my experience with Videvo.net, its features, and why I think it’s an excellent choice for video stock footage.

Here is a table of contents for your convenience.

What is Videvo.net?

Videvo.net is a fantastic platform that offers an absolute treasure trove of free stock footage, sound effects, and music tracks.

It’s perfect for value-conscious content creators like yours who want to add a dash of flair to our video projects without emptying the wallets.

what is Vedevo.net

The website boasts a vast library of high-quality content, a user-friendly interface, and a supportive community vibe you’ll adore.

After checking the tool and writing this Videvo review, trust me – you want to give it a whirl!

Imagine accessing a seemingly endless collection of clips that can elevate your video projects without spending a penny.

That’s pretty much what Videvo offers.

Founded in 2012 by CEO Tom Limb, Videvo is a young platform that has become an invaluable resource for content creators worldwide, providing free and premium stock footage that caters to various industries and interests.

The Videvo platform currently has over 1 million video clips, with 90K+ available free of charge.

What you need to know about Videvo footage

Before I dive headfirst into the world of Videvo, I’ve done a quick Videvo review to highlight what you should know about their footage.

An extensive library

Videvo’s library is nothing short of amazing. They’ve got thousands of clips in categories such as nature, cityscapes, people, technology, and so much more.

You’re almost guaranteed to find the perfect clip for your project, no matter what it is about.

I searched for “footage of the Swiss Alps” and was immediately greeted with a plethora of great videos. Check out the number of clips available – 78,881!

Diverse licensing options

Videvo offers a mix of free and premium licensing options (basically: Videvo Attribution License, Creative Commons 3.0, and Royalty Free).

Most of their clips are available under a Royalty-Free license, allowing you to use the footage in personal and commercial projects without spending a dime or signing up.

For those who crave even more content, Videvo Plus and Pro are the premium subscription plans that grant access to an exclusive footage library and additional perks.

Good Video Quality

The quality of the videos available on the site is surprisingly good. I even found some available in 4K resolution (although free 4K videos are a little hard to find).

What it means is you can create professional-looking projects without compromising quality.

I did notice that most of the freely available content was limited to lower resolutions. That isn’t the end of the world, but it might be a downer if you’re looking for 4K-only footage.

Fresh content

One of the best things I found after reviewing Videvo is that they continually add new footage to their library.

This means I can always find something fresh and exciting instead of repeatedly using the same tired old content.

I’ve even set up an account and enabled email notifications, so I’m always in the loop on the latest additions.

Community contributions

While researching the platform and writing this Videvo review, I noticed the extensive sense of community revolving around contributions and engagement.

This attitude toward simultaneously giving back and helping creators gives me warm fuzzies; as a content creator, I’m all for it!

Head over to the Videvo Twitter page to see how much engagement this platform has with its users and contributors.

How to use Videvo

What struck me when I first started to navigate the Videvo website was the similarity between the (easy to use) layout and those of other free stock resource sites.

Honestly, after using services like Unsplash and Pexels for so long, the Videvo.net interface felt like home.

A soft color theme, well-positioned search bar, and constantly refreshing content were a touch of the familiar – and pretty much what I expected from a website that does its business by supplying high-quality footage.

As I anticipated, the interface is super easy to use and very intuitive, and getting started is simple, just follow these steps.

Create a free account

Head on over to the Videvo sign-up page and create a free account. You can use your email address or the Google and Facebook SSO option.

For the purpose of the Videvo review creation, I used my old Gmail account during the registration.

Pick a unique username, check your email for verification, and you’re in.

This will grant you access to the entire library of footage, sound effects, and music tracks. Plus, you can enable email notifications to stay informed about new content.

Search and browse

Use the search bar at the top to find specific clips, or browse through categories like landscapes, people, technology, or family.

You will also notice that you can break down your search by resolution, frame rate, and license type, making it a breeze to find exactly what you need.

I searched for footage of the Australian Outback, and I wasn’t left disappointed.

Preview and licensing

You can preview the clip by clicking on it to ensure it meets your requirements. Read the licensing details to ensure you can use them in your project.

Most clips are available under a Royalty-Free license, allowing you to use them in personal and commercial projects without any cost.

However, some clips may be available only under a premium license, so double-checking is always a good idea.

Download and use

Once you’ve found the perfect clip, click “Download” to get your hands on that fabulous footage.

If your video footage is free to use, the download option is available immediately. If the footage is premium, select the resolution, and away you go.

I found the files are usually in .mov or .mp4 format, which means they’re compatible with the most popular video editing software and are YouTube-friendly.

Once you have downloaded the video, you can add that stunning stock footage to your project and watch it come to life!

I should note at this point that video footage is not the only resource available on Videvo. The platform also includes a diverse range of options for use, such as:

  • Footage and motion graphics
  • 1500+ templates for a massive range of video editing software like Adobe After Effects and Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve
  • 15K audio clips and 184K sound effects

When creating this review, I was particularly impressed with the Videvo collections feature, which allows you to search for resources within popular categories.

When checking out this feature, I was delighted to see the Easter and Ramadan collections, which again highlighted how committed Videvo is to keeping its content fresh and relevant.

Videvo pros and cons

The more I delved deeper into the world of Videvo, the more I couldn’t help but notice some standout features that made my experience truly enjoyable. However, like any other platform, it has its share of imperfections.

So, I’ve put on my critical hat and broken down the Videvo pros and cons.

This way, you can get a clearer picture of what to expect and determine if it fits your creative needs.

Pros

  • Extensive library of high-quality footage. With thousands of clips spanning various categories, you’ll be absolutely spoiled for choice when searching for the perfect footage for your project.
  • Free licensing options for personal and commercial use. Who doesn’t love free stuff? I certainly do! The majority of clips on Videvo are available under a Royalty-Free license, so you can use them without spending a dime.
  • User-friendly interface. The easy-to-use search and filter functions make it simple to find exactly what you need, even if you’re new to the world of stock footage.
  • Regular updates with fresh content. The library is constantly updated, ensuring you can always access fresh and exciting footage for your projects. The platform also seems to add categories for ongoing events, holidays, and seasons (I thought it was a very nice touch).
  • Compatible with popular video editing software. Videvo’s footage works seamlessly with popular programs like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve.

Cons

  • Some clips are only available under a premium license. While most of Videvo’s content is free, you may, on occasion, stumble on some clips that require a premium subscription. I didn’t let this discourage me, the benefits of Videvo far outweigh this minor drawback, and honestly, the subscription-based premium content is worth it if you’re constantly needing quality stock footage.
  • Occasional lower-resolution clips. Although most clips on Videvo are high-quality, you might come across a few in lower resolutions.

Videvo pricing

I found that while a decent portion of Videvo’s content is available for free, they also offer premium subscription plans for those who crave even more goodies.

Videvo Light, Plus, and Pro give you access to an even larger library of premium content, along with extra perks like priority support and audio selection. Videvo pricing

Videvo Light (Free Plan)

  • Access to a large library of stock footage under the Royalty-Free license
  • Priced at $7.99 per month
  • Five Premium downloads per month
  • Perfect for content creators on a budget
  • Clips can be used for personal and commercial projects at no cost

From my experience reviewing Videvo, this plan offers more than enough variety and quality to meet most creators’ needs.

The lightest plan in the Videvo range provides a generous selection of stock footage for those on a tight budget. The Royalty-Free license allows you to use the clips for personal and commercial projects without hurting your wallet.

I’ve found this to be more than sufficient for my content creation needs, but note that the editing templates are not available in this plan.

Videvo Plus

  • Priced at $14.99 per month
  • 25 Premium downloads per month
  • Access to an exclusive library of video templates
  • Priority support for faster response times
  • Ideal for users seeking a more comprehensive selection of premium content

For those craving more access to premium content, Videvo Plus is available at $14.99 per month.

Subscribers gain access to an exclusive library of premium footage that isn’t available under the light plan.

Videvo Pro

  • Priced at $24.99 per month
  • 50 Premium downloads per month
  • Includes all the benefits of Videvo Plus
  • Access to an extensive library of exclusive audio content
  • Ideal for large-scale consumers of stock footage, templates, and audio

Finally, Videvo Pro, priced at $24.99 per month, offers the most extensive range of resources.

This plan includes all the benefits of Videvo Plus, as well as access to an even larger library of exclusive content.

Videvo Pro subscribers also receive new content notifications, making it a breeze to stay updated on the latest additions to the platform.

FAQ

As I navigated my way through Videvo and wrote this Videvo review, I couldn’t help but notice that some questions kept popping up in my mind.

I’m sure I’m not alone in this, so I thought it would be incredibly prudent to address some of the most frequently asked questions you may have about Videvo.

How do you credit Videvo?

Upon clicking through several footage results, I found that variations do exist for attribution requirements.

Videvo royalty free licensing

For royalty-free images, attributions or crediting is generally not required, but keep in mind the copyright always remains with the author.

Videvo attribution license

Stock footage held under either Creative Commons 3.0 or Videvo attribution license requires a credit/attribution to be made within your project.

Videvo details the exact requirements of this in their knowledge. Still, basically, it boils down to providing a hyperlink and reference to the author as it appears on the download page, with attribution in the following format.

The attribution should be placed alongside the video (if published on a website) or in the credits if published on a video-sharing platform such as YouTube.

For example, if the author’s name is “David,” the credit should read: “Stock footage provided by David, downloaded from www.videvo.net

Is Videvo safe?

Absolutely! Videvo.net is a safe and reputable platform for downloading stock footage. They offer a secure browsing and download experience, ensuring that your information stays protected.

Is Videvo legit?

I know it sounds too good to be true, but Videvo is a legit platform that has been serving the creative community for years.

With thousands of satisfied users, you can trust me when I say Videvo is a completely above-board platform to deliver high-quality stock footage for your projects.

Is Videvo free?

Yes, the majority of Videvo’s content is available for free under the Royalty-Free license, allowing you to use the footage in personal and commercial projects without any cost.

However, some clips may be available only under a premium license, which requires a subscription to Videvo Light, Plus, or Videvo Pro.

What are Videvo alternatives?

I get it, variety is the spice of life, and sometimes you might want to explore some more options. While writing this Video review, I have come up with a few stock footage platforms you may want to check out:

1. Pexels

This treasure trove offers a vast collection of free stock photos and videos. It features a straightforward licensing model that lets you use the content in personal and commercial projects without attribution.

2. Pixabay

With over 2 million high-quality stock photos, videos, and illustrations, Pixabay is like an all-you-can-eat buffet for content creators. And the best part? All of it is available for free under a super flexible licensing model.

3. Storyblocks

If you’re a frequent stock content hunter, Storyblocks is your go-to option. This subscription-based service provides unlimited downloads of high-quality stock footage, music, and sound effects. Although not free, it’s worth it if you need stock content regularly.

4. Shutterstock

As a popular platform, Shutterstock boasts a massive library of stock footage, images, and music tracks. Unfortunately, it does operate on a pay-per-download or subscription basis, making it a little less budget-friendly than some other options.

Each of these platforms comes with its unique features and advantages, so don’t hesitate to explore them and see which one tickles your fancy.

However, when it comes to a blend of free and high-quality content, Videvo remains a top choice for content creators like us!
